Turkish Airlines

Turkish Airlines has flights among major cities which are convenient for longer distances. Onur Air, Anadolu Jet, AtlasJet, Izair and Pegasus Air fares may be lower, but schedules and service may not be as favorable as on Turkish Airlines.

Turkish Airlines' major hub is Istanbul's Atatürk Airport. Nonstop flights between Istanbul and other Turkish cities have the best fares.

To fly from a smaller city (Izmir, Antalya) to another smaller city (Kayseri/Cappadocia, Adana) you may have to fly to the Istanbul hub and take a connecting flight, which raises the price of your itinerary about 30%.

Turkish Airlines (Türk Hava Yollari; codes: TK, THY) is a good, competent international airline with worldwide routes and domestic connections to every important Turkish city.

THY has non-stop flights from New York, Miami, Chicago, Wshington DC, most major European and Asian, and some African cities to Istanbul.

THY's aircraft fleet is relatively new and its safety record is good. Terminal and in-flight service is generally of a very good European standard, security is better than most, and everybody speaks English. Flights & fares

Most other major European national airlines (Alitalia, Air France, British Airways, KLM, Lufthansa, Olympic, SAS, etc) also have flights to Istanbul.

Within Turkey, THY runs domestic flights from its Istanbul hub to every important city, town and tourist resort in the country (map: Regions & Major Cities) including Antalya, Bodrum, Dalaman, Izmir and Kayseri (for Cappadocia). Its low-fare domestic subsidiary, AnadoluJet, flies to many more cities. More...

Its competitors, Onur Air, AtlasJet, IZair, Pegasus Airlines, and Sun Express, fly many of the same routes for lower fares.
